Gary and Graham look back at the closing week of Le Tour and ponder “what next?” for Mark Cavendish and fat blokes in Team Sky kit and trainers. They also review the Olympic road races which feature mixed fortunes for Team GB.
In this episode, Gary attempts to usurp Graham’s leadership by cheekily making a bid to drive the show. In appreciation, Graham vows that Gary will have exclusive dibs on the forthcoming daily podcasts* covering the USA Pro Cycling Challenge which apparently starts next month.
Finally, the boys announce the winner of the VCDL/Velogames Fantasy Tour de France mini-league and the actually-randomly-drawn winner of a King of the Mountains casquette, generously donated by our mate Gary Rothera off of Rothera Cycling
(* No, not really)

As a musician who also cycles I’ve been racking my brain for a “Fat bloke in Sky kit” music analogy but failed to think of one so far, though I’ll probably think of ten after I click the Speak button… What I will say though is that as recently re-converted lapsed cyclist there have been many occassions recently when I wanted to stop someone and explain to them exactly why they need to raise their saddle and how much more enjoyable their experience would be for just doing that one thing, as well as pumping up their tyres. OK that’s two things, I’m no cycling fascist by any means so I try to not let it annoy me, but it does…just a little, but it does and I’ve only been commuting a year. I also have a deep dislike for the waterproof hi-viz yellow jacket that I still own but no longer wear having discarded it long ago for something that’s a bit less of a noob beacon! Hopefully though these folks will eventually “get it” before they become discouraged and give up.
